FOURTH TIME RUNNING IN TWELVE MONTHS!
The event is based for five nights at the Old Vicarage Country House Hotel, Worfield, on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Bridgnorth.
It was so successful in May 2023 that it ran again in July, the hotel being filled on both occasions. The first May 2024 tour filled in a week!
The family run hotel is renowned for its food and certainly did not disappoint – no offers of bribery enough to get the chef to divulge the recipe for one of the most amazing deserts!
There are just fourteen rooms at the hotel (above) so they will be allocated strictly on a 'first come, first served' basis. The hotel does not have a lift so please check with me regarding the two ground floor rooms!
The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday May 15th. Arrivals at Old Vicarage Country House Hotel during the day with dinner preceded by champagne reception on the terrace.
Dinner 7.30pm.
Thursday May 16th. We start with a short run to CMC, the world famous car restorers. They specialise in Jaguars but have recently restored the Aston Martin Bulldog enabling its successful attempt at 200mph. Cars they have restored have won many international concours events. There will be a guided tour of the workshops and a chance to view the cars for sale. Coffee and biscuits will also be served!
From CMC we travel through the Shropshire lanes to RAF Cosford Museum and the massive display of planes from all eras before calling in at famous David Austin Roses on the return journey to Worfield.
Dinner 7.30pm
Friday May 17th. No driving today as a classic coach collects from the hotel and takes first to the Kidderminster Museum of Carpet and then Harvington Hall, a 13th century moated manor house renowned for its number of priest hides.
After lunch and a tour of the house and gardens we catch the Severn Valley Railway train back to Bridgnorth.
Dinner 7:30 pm
Saturday May 18th. A run today down to Blists Hill Victorian town where you can even pay for things in old money followed by a scenic run through the lanes to picturesque Much Wenlock.
Sunday, May 19th. Bridgnorth. The day starts with a short run to Daniels Mill, where you can view the amazing restoration and even buy some flour made on site. After mid-morning coffee and cake at the mill we return to Bridgnorth low town where we take the funicular railway, built in 1891, up to Bridgnorth high town. The afternoon is free to wander around the picturesque centre and maybe visit the antique centre.
Monday, May 20th. Departure for home.
