April 7th – 9th (10th) 2019
SUNDAY / MONDAY / TUESDAY / (WEDNESDAY)
The 11th Credit Crunch Special is based at the four-star Grange Hotel & Spa, in the picturesque Victorian town of Grange-over-Sands on the edge of the Lake District.
More serious negotiation has resulted in the cost, being the same as 2018, at just £345 per person for three nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast and entry to all attractions, despite, as I’m sure you are aware, hotel prices in the Lake District being normally phenomenally high.
However, because of weddings, the three nights run from Sunday evening as Shrewsbury a few years ago. This, as usual, is based on two people sharing a room.
There are just 52 rooms at the hotel and the superior rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis as usual, so to be sure of a place book early. There is an overspill facility if 52 rooms exceeded but all evening meals will be at the Grange.
The itinerary is as follows:
Sunday, April 7th. Arrivals at the 4-star Grange Hotel & Spa during the day followed by dinner at 7.30pm.
Monday, April 8th. Leaving the hotel about 10am we take a scenic route to the Lakeland Car Museum. This used to be based at Holker Hall but gradually outgrew its location and is now in a purpose built building with over 30,000 exhibits, including 140 cars.
There’s plenty to interest everybody and after a buffet lunch we board one of the historic Windermere boats for a cruise along the lake.
Of course there will be an opportunity for some retail therapy along the way!
Dinner in the evening 7.30pm.
Tuesday, April 9th. Another scenic run today, taking in Holker Hall & Gardens, a trip on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway and a picturesque route to Coniston with a visit to Donald Campbell’s grave.
From Coniston we’ll take a loop through the hills back to the hotel.
Once more dinner 7.30pm.
Wednesday, April 10th. Departure for home unless you’re staying the extra night. If you do decide to stay a special rate of £79 per person D,B&B applies. There’s still plenty more to see in the area, but you could, of course, just chill out and take advantage of the swimming pool and spa facilities.
The cost for the event, after serious bartering, is once again just £345 per person, based on two people sharing. Single supplement £35 per night.
Included in the price are the following:
- Three nights’ accommodation on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis at the 4-star Grange Hotel & Spa
- Entry to Lakeland Motor Museum
- Windermere cruise
- Trip on Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway
- Entry to Holker Hall & Gardens
